The Sophomore Braves concluded their season with a 20-3 record after a tough loss in the district championship game. The Capital Eagles ended up winning the district championship in a 58-56 contest. Boise was unable to bounce back from a 2 point second quarter that saw Capital take a 10 point lead in to halftime. The Braves could have rolled over at this point and say that it was not meant to be, but many players stepped up in the second half of the game. Freshman Jacob Russell led the charge with 15 of his 18 points in the second half. Sophomore Hussein Hussein provided energy on defense and finished some acrobatic layups before fouling out. A late three from freshman Blake Ulrickson cut the Capital lead to 1, but Boise was unable to get over the hump. Although the final game didn't end as the team had hoped, the Braves worked hard all season long. The Boise basketball program has a very bright future with underclassmen having successful years at the sophomore, JV and varsity levels. Make sure to come out and support the varsity Braves on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Meridian High. We will be taking on Rocky Mountain and we appreciate the support for the subvarsity programs throughout the season.
The Sophomore boys have punched their ticket to the DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP game Wednesday (2/19) vs Capital. After trailing at the end of the first quarter on Saturday morning in the first round of districts, the Braves have turned it on to find a way to win. Boise pulled off an 81-50 win over Mt. View in the first round followed up by a 56-47 win in the semi-finals vs Borah. It has been a great year for the Braves sophomore team which heads into the championship on Wednesday 6pm at Rocky Mt with a 20-2 record. The team is prepared but needs everyone's support on Wednesday!

Boise Runs by Meridian
The sophomore Braves continued their winning ways on Tuesday with a 68-44 win over Meridian. The Braves picked up the energy in the 2nd half and won because of an all-around team effort. Sophomores Dejon Foster and Kade Wagers led the way with 10 and 6 points respectively, and both notching 10 rebounds. Freshman Jose Ceja Sanchez had 9 of his team high 11 points in the decisive 3rd quarter. With the win, Boise locks up the number 1 spot in districts that start this Saturday at 9am at Boise High, but first the Braves finish their regular season on the road at Centennial on Thursday at 4:30.
Boys JV Week Recap
The Braves lost a tough game in Overtime to Rocky Mountain, 68-66. Down 10 at half, the Braves fought back and until Sophomore Dylan McGee scored on a lob pass from Sophomore Jason Siegrist with under 5 seconds remaining in regulation. The Braves fought back and forth in overtime, only to lose by 2. Junior Hassani Mberwa led all scorers with 22 points, and Sophomore Valentino Daltoso also contributed 16.
The Braves played arguably their worst game of the season against Borah Friday night, and lost 55-41. Sophomore Seth Newville and Junior Matt Ryden paced the Braves with 10 points. The Braves currently are 4th in conference play, and look to finish out the regular season with games against Centennial and Meridian.
Boise Handles Borah
Sophomore boys played their best game of the year handling #4 Borah 60-39. It was a quality team win for the Braves. Boise started the game off hot scoring on their first 5 possessions and never looked back from there. Freshman Jacob Russell led the balance scoring attack with 15 points to also go along with 5 reb, 3 ast, and 3 steals. Everyone who was able to play got in the game and provided quality minutes. The Braves currently sit in first place heading into the final week of the regular season with a 16-2 record. The final two games this week are on the road vs Meridian (Tuesday) and Centennial (Thursday). District tournament starts this is Saturday at home for the Sophomore boys.
Braves Grind out WIN
The Braves traveled out to Rocky Mountain Wednesday 2/5 to take on the Grizz. It was a 32 minute battle which ended in a 53-48 victory for the Braves. With the win it keeps the boys in 1st place with a 15-2 record. Freshman Ollie Munch was huge off the bench knocking down three 3-pointers and ending the game with 14 points. Sophomore DeJon Foster-Bonds played a major roll racking up 12 points and pulling down 8 rebounds. The Braves handled adversity by playing short handed with players missing in action or going out early with an injury against the 3 loss Rocky Mountain team. The team as a whole stepped up huge and it was a quality team win. The Braves host cross town rivals Borah on Friday 2/7. Come support the Braves as the game tips off at 4:30pm.
Boys JV Weekend Recap
The Braves made a statement with their win against Vallivue at home Friday night, winning 64-17. Junior Hassani Mberwa led the Braves with 15 points, and Ty Sullivan chipped in 11.
Saturday the Braves had an exciting game against Mountain View that resulted in a 57-56 win. The Braves controlled the pace of the game and led by many as 18. The Mavericks fought back and took the lead in the 4th quarter but the Braves found a way to pull out a win behind HUGE three-pointers from Sophomore Seth Newville and the game winning bucket as time expired by Sophomore Dylan McGee, assisted by Junior Hassani Mberwa. Hassani Mberwa led the way with 16 points, and Dylan McGee also chipped in 10.
The Braves have an overall record of 10-6 (8-6 SIC) and currently are 4th in conference standings. The Braves resume play this Wednesday at Rocky Mountain, game tips at 6:00 PM. Go Braves!
Back 2 Back WINS
The Sophomore boys had quite the weekend of points. Both points scored and points allowed. The Braves were able to snatch up two big wins this weekend. First on Friday 1/31 they hosted the Vallivue Falcons for a battle for 1st place. Boise won a 74-71 contest with everyone able to play contributing to the overall teams success. The Braves jumped out fast but the Falcons were able to make shots to stay in the game. To follow up that slugfest the Braves traveled out to Mt View the following night to play the Mavs. Boise yet again found a way to score points and was able to leave Mt View with a 74-69 win. The Braves offense was clicking on all cylinders. Yet again another big team win. The Braves are currently 13-2 on the season and 1st in the league. The Braves travel out to Rocky Mountain on Wednesday 2/5 to play the 2nd place Grizzlies. We would love your support Wednesday, the game tips at 4:30pm!
JV Boys Drop Tough OT Loss
The Boy's JV had a hard fought game against Capital featuring a capacity crowd for the majority of the game. Sophomore Valentino Daltoso was able to convert a game tying layup with under 5 seconds to go in the game to send it into overtime. The Braves couldn't hang on in overtime, and lost 59-51. Junior Hassani Mberwa led the way with 18 points (12 in the 4th quarter), and Valentino Daltoso chipped in 13.
Eagles Hand Braves Loss
The sophomore boys hosted the Capital Eagles this past Saturday the 25th and ended up losing a battle. The Braves started off strong but could never put the Eagles away. With Capital's physical play and aggressiveness on the board the Braves were unable to keep them off the scoreboard. Boise lost 52-60 to hand them their second loss of the season. Sophomore Kade Wagers provided a spark off the bench by hitting his first 3 of the year to go along with a couple other buckets and 6 rebounds. Freshman Andrew Theobald was a force in the paint but his time was limited due to foul trouble. Capital was able to convert 19 offensive rebounds into 22 second chance points. The Braves will host Vallivue on Friday the 31st. In the first meeting the Falcons handed the Braves their first loss of the season. JV Boys Week Recap
After a slow start against Eagle that found the Braves down 20 in the third quarter, the boys fought back furiously in the 4th behind the lights out shooting of Sophomore Seth Newville (20 pts) and Junior Hassani Mberwa (18 pts), but came up short and lost 58-56.
The Braves came out with little energy defensively on Saturday against Centennial and trailed the entire game. Centennial left Boise High with a 59-49 victory. Sophomore Ty Sullivan led the Braves with 15 points.
After a rough weekend, the Braves traveled to crosstown rival Timberline for the pink out game. The Braves bounced back from their 2 game skid with a solid 67-54 victory on Timberline's home floor. Using a TEAM defensive effort combined with the hot shooting of Sophomore Seth Newville (25 pts), the Braves controlled the pace of the game and earned a tough team win.
Braves Handle Rivals
The Braves traveled to play cross town rivals Timberline Tuesday 1/21 and was able to leave the gym with a win. It was an intense back and forth game until early in the 4th quarter when the Braves started to pull away. An overall great team effort to secure the 49-32 victory. Sophomore Kade Wagers pulled down 8 rebounds to go along with 6 points. Freshman Andrew Theobald paced the way with 7 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 blocked shots. Everyone was able to see action on the floor and contributed to the team victory. The Braves host Capital on Saturday 1/25 with tip-off being at 4:30pm.
Sophomore Boys Weekend Round-Up
The Sophomore boys were battle tested on the road last Friday (1/17) at Eagle to grab a 43-41 come from behind victory. The Braves came out sluggish and the Mustangs were swinging on all cylinders to start the game. The Mustangs zoned the Braves for 32 to minutes to try and slow down their fast attack. Freshman Blake Ulrickson came up huge for the Braves knocking down 5 3pointers including the game winner with 32 seconds left. Freshman Andrew Theobald controlled the boards and had the game saving steal with only a few seconds left. It was a 32 to minute battle but the Braves were able to grind out a victory to remain in 1st place of the league.
On Saturday the 18th the Braves hosted Centennial and racked up another solid team win by 22 points. Boise 66 Centennial 44 was the final score. The Braves had a great team win with everyone playing and contributing to the team victory. Freshman Jacob Russell led the way with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. Sophomore Hussein Hussein was a defensive force making it very hard for any Centennial guard to get comfortable. The Braves move to 11-1 on the season and 9-1 in conference. The Braves travel to Timberline to play the Wolves on Tuesday 1/21, this game always shapes up to be a good one!
Sophomore Boys Protect Homecourt
The Braves hosted the Meridian Warriors on Saturday 1/11 and were able to stay perfect on their home court with a 64-14 win. The Braves played great team defense which held the Warriors to 4 made field goals and only 4 points in the second half. Everyone was able to contribute and play multiple minutes. Freshman Karl Zanot scored 14 points off the bench, freshman Andrew Theobald controlled the paint blocking 6 shots and pulling down 6 rebounds. It was a great overall team effort. The Braves now move into the second half the season with a 9-1 record. They travel to Eagle on Friday 1/17 to take on the Mustangs to start the second half of the season.
JV Boys Win 2 Straight to Bounce Back
The JV Boys won tough games against Borah (61-59), and Meridian (60-32) to bounce back from their 2 game losing streak. Junior Hassani Mberwa led the way for the Braves against Borah with 18 points, and Seth Newville hit clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the win in a tough Borah atmosphere.
The Braves jumped out to a quick start against Meridian and never looked back. Sophomore Seth Newville scored 16 points in the first quarter to finish with a game high 21. Both wins were fueled by a quality team effort on both ends of the floor. The wins move the Braves into a tie for 3rd in conference, with an overall record of 7-3.

Sophomore Boys Leave the Lion's Den with a WIN
The sophomore Braves moved in to sole possession of first place in the SIC with a 50-42 win over a tough Borah squad. After entering the 4th quarter knotted at 28, freshman Jose Ceja Sanchez went on a personal 9-0 run to give the team a lead they would not relinquish; he would finish with a game high 15 points. Sophomores Dejon Foster and Kade Wagers dominated the glass and added in some scoring to seal the game. Sophomore Hussein Hussein hit a big 3 to up the energy and the team responded with a big 4th quarter. The Braves take on Meridian at home in a big game on Saturday and are looking to hold on to their conference lead.
Boy's JV Winter Recap
The JV Boys closed out 2013 with a solid win over Mountain View, 68-53. The Braves fought through a slow first half to take a commanding lead in the 3rd quarter and never look back. Sophomore Guard Seth Newville led the way with 20 points, while Sophomore Ty Sullivan and Junior Matt Ryden both chipped in 13. The win moved the Braves to 5-1 overall.
The Braves began 2014 with a tough home matchup against Rocky Mountain. The Braves fought hard the entire game, but fell just short and lost 52-51. The game was never out of reach, but failing to rebound the basketball just a little bit better eventually caught up to the Braves. Sophomore Seth Newville led the way with 14 points.
After a tough loss to Rocky Mountain, the Braves were right back at it against the undefeated Capital Eagles. The boys fought extremely hard for 32 minutes, but in the end dropped a tough game 60-51. Offensive struggles doomed the Braves, featuring Sophomore Dylan McGee as the only player in double figures, with 10 points. The loss moves the Braves to 5-3 on the season.
Sophomore Boys Winter Round-Up
The Braves started the winter break with a home win over Mt View 65-52. The team started a bit slow but came out strong in the 2nd half to take control of the game. The Braves were able to out rebound the MAVS by 16 to secure the win. Great team effort.
The Braves started the new year off with a match-up against undefeated Rocky Mountain. It was 32 minute battle that end with a home win. Freshman Jacob Russell hit a buzzer beater to end the 1st half and the Braves never looked back from there. Boise was able to hand Rocky their 1st loss of the year with a 66-52 win.
After battling with Rocky for 32 minutes the night before, the Braves didn't have much time to prepare for a physical Capital team. It was another 32 minute battle but the Braves were able to leave Capital with a 48-42 victory. Freshman Ollie Munch had 14 points, 5 rebounds to pace they way, and freshman Blake Ulrickson knocked down some clutch 3 pointers and led the team in steals with 6.
Varsity Boys at Capital
The Braves took their first loss of the season against the Capital Eagles. The short handed Braves fought hard, but could not pull out the win against the undefeated Eagles. Evan Henning had a game high 13 points and Marcus Nelson added 8. Alex Rant grabbed a game high 9 rebounds.
Varsity Boys vs. Rocky
The Braves won a close battle against the visiting Rocky Mountain grizzly Bears 72-68. Sam Simpson led all scorers with 25 p9ints and also grabbed 10 rebounds. Logan Miller chipped in 17 points and Alex Rant added 14. Evan Henning grabbed 6 rebounds in this team victory.
Varsity Boys vs. Mt View
The Braves took care of the visiting Mt. View Mavericks 57-39. Alex Rant led the Braves with 17 pts and added 5 rebounds. Sam Simpson snagged a game high 12 rebounds.
Varsity Boys @ Vallivue
Braves played a very solid game and came out on top of the Falcons of Vallivue 76-53. The Braves were led by Sam Simpsons 27 pts and 17 rebounds. Evan Henning added 12 pts and 9 rebounds.
Falcons Knock Off Sophomore Boys
The Braves lost their first game of the year last night at the hands of the Vallivue Falcons 56-47. Vallivue was able to tame the Brave’s uptempo style and held them to their lowest point total of the year, 47. It was a tough game for everyone. The Braves were out rebounded by 20+ and were turned over 17 times. It is hard to win a basketball game with those kind of stats. The positive of last night’s game is that you can always learn from your mistakes so that they do not become bad habits. We WIN as a TEAM and LOSE as TEAM, the boys will prepare in practice today for a HOME game tomorrow Friday 12/20 vs Mt. View.

JV Boys Score Season High 94 Points in WIN
After a slow start and 2 point game at halftime, the JV Boys erupted for 56 second half points to beat Vallivue 94-67. The Braves controlled the tempo of the game throughout the second half and relied on defensive pressure and offensive rebounds to fuel the offense. The game featured 5 different Braves scoring in double figures. Sophomore Seth Newville led the way with a game high 23 points, while Junior Hassani Mberwa contributed 21 points. Sophomore Dylan McGee contributed 15, Jason Siegrist and Darrius Holland both chipped in 10.
The Braves move to 4-1, 3rd overall in Conference. Come out to support the boy's last game before break at HOME against Mountain View this Friday. Game tips at 6 PM.
Varsity Boys vs. Timberline
The varsity boys basketball team held off a huge 3rd qtr comeback by the visiting Wolves from Timberline to earn its fourth straight victory. Sam Simpson led all scorers with 22. He also grabbed 10 rebounds while playing all 32 minutes with a sore back. Other notable players include seniors Alex Rant and Brandon Smith. Sophomores Evan Henning and Logan Miller also played huge roles in the victory. A great team win.
Sophomore Boys Rally to Beat Timberline
Last night the Sophomore Boys Basketball team rallied from a 12 point deficit in the first half to secure a 62-46 win over their rivals Timberline. The team started out slow and made some silly mistakes but figured things out at half time to crawl back into the game. Freshman guard Jacob Russell led the way with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 assists; by far his best his best performance of the year. Freshman Andrew Theobald was a defensive presence yet again. Andrew finished the game with 6 blocks, 10 rebounds, to go along with 9 points. The bench energy was positive for the entire 32 minute battle. Always a great feeling to protect your home court, let along beat your cross town rivals. The Braves move to 4-0 on the year and 2-0 in conference play. The team travels to Vallivue on Wednesday 12/20 to take on the Falcons.
Varsity Boys 12/10/13
The Braves had a great victory in their conference opener against Eagle. Sam Simpson led all scorers with 25 point and 9 rebounds. Logan Miller scored 17, Alex Rant 8, Marcus Nelson 5, Evan Henning 8, Brandon Smith 4, Heaton Oakes 1. The Braves really played well and it was a good team win. Final Score 68-60.

Sophomore Boys move to 3-0
The Braves started conference play Tuesday 12/10 at home and grinded out another team win to move to 3-0 on the season. Boise's Sophomore team knocked off Eagle 58-41. The team started out with a strong 1st quarter and never looked back. Highlight of the quarter was when freshman Jacob Russell got a steal and tossed it ahead to freshman Andrew Theobald who threw down a monster dunk in transition. It was a great team win with freshman Jack Streeby and Ollie Munch providing quality minutes off the bench. Freshman Karl Zanot also provided a spark off the bench hitting a 3 pointer at the buzzer to head into half time. The Braves continued their defensive pressure the entire 2nd half to hold off the Mustangs late run. The Braves play cross town rival Timberline on Thursday 12/12 at home. JV Boys Win Conference Opener
The JV Boys secured a good team win over Eagle, 56-48, by taking care of the basketball and hitting free throws down the stretch. Seth Newville caught fire from 3 in the third and led all scorers with 22 points. Good team defense and an attention to the details helped the Braves move to 3-0 on the season.
Sophomores WIN home-opener
The Braves had a good team win at home this Saturday vs Nampa 72-21 and move to 2-0 on the year. The Braves took advantage of their size and speed to knock off the Bulldogs. Boise out rebounded Nampa by 46 and forced 23 turnovers. Sophomore Hussein Hussein pulled down 5 rebounds, dished out 4 assists, and had 2 steals. Freshman big man Andrew Theobald had another solid performance with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 blocks. Freshman Blake Ulrickson came off the bench to chip in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Everyone on the team played solid minutes and the energy was endless. With non-conference games done, the Braves host Eagle Tuesday, December 10th to start the conference schedule. JV Wins Home Opener vs. Nampa
The JV Boys won their home opener against Nampa 44-36. The Braves were consistent on offense, and used defense down the stretch to hold the game out of reach. Sophomore Dylan McGee led the Braves with 10 points, while 9 other players contributed offensively. The win moves the Braves to 2-0 on the season.
JV Boys Begin 2013-14 Season with a 1pt Win
After a back and forth battle that lasted 3 and a half quarters, the JV Boys were able to pull out a close win over Kuna, 46-45. Matt Ryden kept the Braves in the game early on with 9 first half points, and finished with 15. The Braves caught fire from 3 in the second half, featuring buckets from Hassani Mberwa, Jason Siegrist, Darrius Holland, Matt Ryden, and Valentino Daltoso. Overall, a great team win that featured 7 different players contributing offensively. Execution down the stretch defensively proved to be the difference in the game. Our next game is Saturday December 7 at Home against Nampa. JV Game will begin at 6:00 PM.
Sophomore Boys start the season with a WIN
The Sophomore Boys traveled to Kuna on Tuesday December 3rd to kick off the 2013-2014 season. After a 32 minute battle with the Kavemen, Boise was able to leave with a 59-40 win. After settling in and claming the first game jitters, the Braves used an uptempo style and agressive defense to get the win. The Braves forced 24 turnovers, blocked 16 shots and out rebounded Kuna by 19. Sophomore Kade Wagers had a solid performance on the offensive glass grabbing 7 of his 8 rebounds on our end of the court, also adding 10 points shooting 4/6 from the free throw line. Sophomore DeJon Foster contributed 12points, 5rebounds, 4blocks, and 2 steals. Freshman Andrew Theobald was a defensive machine grabbing 9rebounds and blocking a team high 8 shots. It was a good team win with everyone playing and providing countless energy and effort. The Braves have their home opening this Saturday December 7th as they host the Nampa Bulldogs. Come support the Sophomore team with the game starts at 4:30pm.
The Jamboree scheduled for November 25th will be for VARSITY only. The varsity will play at 6:00 and at 7:40. We will be taking a bus that will leave from Boise High at 4:30.
